KSE Prepares for a Solar Eclipse of the Heart
KSE ♥︎ STEM.  That's why on Monday, August 21, 2017, KSE will be celebrating the Eclipse Across America with STEM activities designed to make the most of this once-in-a-lifetime experience.  For safety reasons, the school will be following all Cobb County School District directives about the eclipse.  Unfortunately, this means that kindergarten – 2nd grade students will not be permitted to go outside during the eclipse.  However, our youngest students will be able to view a broadcast with NASA in lieu of going outside.  The school is still working on the details of its 3rd-5th grade activities, which will include a permission slip to participate.  Stay tuned for more details about KSE's planned activities!

For more information on the eclipse, including great graphics showing the path of the eclipse in our area, visit the district's website at http://www.cobbk12.org/eclipse/ .  According to the website, Cobb County will experience a 98% total solar eclipse, with a near total eclipse happening between 2:35 and 2:40. The near total eclipse is expected to last just over 2 minutes.

And don't forget, Cobb County School District will delay dismissal of elementary, middle, and high school students by 45 minutes on August 21.  Because the peak time to experience the solar eclipse falls during our school's dismissal time, the delayed dismissal will ensure that neither students nor employees are on the roadways during the time of the eclipse.
